Goal Items And AQ Items

Goals and Area Quests normally offer a variety of rewards. Often these include a nice piece of equipment, quest points, or gold. Below is an explanation of what a goal is, as well as an explanation of what an area quest is. While not all areas currently have goals, there is a team of people working on test port to create goals for most areas.

Many areas have goals. These goals are made up of a number of steps, or tasks; these tasks can vary from simply giving the correct response to a mob, to finding a particular item, to killing multiple enemies of the task-giver. Often times, goals include small rewards as you progress as well as special bonuses for completing the entire goal.

Type goals by itself to see a list of all goals. Entering goals <goal name> will give more information on the specific goal, and goals here will give goal information on the current area. Using goals <search text> lists all goals with the given search text in the goal name or description.

Goals generally have several tasks as part of their completion progress. See help tasks for more information on how to see these tasks. See help goal solving for general advice on solving goals, and help <goal name> for some additional information on the area and its task.

Area Quests

Unlike normal quests from Questor, you do not "go on" area quests; they are simply puzzles hidden within areas. Many of these have different rewards, including the possibility of quest points, gold, and special equipment or a portal leading to the area. With very few exceptions, area quests are isolated- everything needed is usually in the area with the quest. Not all areas have an area quest, and there's no easy way to distinguish which do and which do not until you find them (see help goals).

There are any number of things you may have to do to solve an area quest. These usually (but not always) include interacting with a mobile in some fashion- giving a certain mob gold or equipment, saying something in particular, and/or using a social on the mob or in a room. Clues are often given in descriptions of rooms, objects, and mobiles, as well as through listening to mobiles with the listen command.

It is not illegal to give people hints and advice on area quests but we do ask that you avoid just giving them the entire answer, particularly on those puzzles that are never needed for normal quests and have special rewards at the end. You are encouraged to explore the areas for yourself and solve the puzzles on your own. If you are just plain stuck after trying everything you can think of, feel free to see if anyone on the question channel feels like giving out some hints.
