There are two types of portals in Aardwolf: Hand-Held Portals and In-Room Portals.
To use:
Hand-Held Portals: Type 'hold <portal>' then type 'enter'.
The first portal you will receive is your Aylorian Academy Portal.
This portal will bring you back to the first room of the Academy any time
you 'enter' it.

In-Room Portals: Type 'enter <object>'. The in-room portal can sometimes be found
in a room when you type 'look'.
Here is an example of an in-room portal:
[ Exits: none ]
(M) A bucket attached to a rope hangs down here. It looks big enough to enter.
So you would type 'enter bucket' to get out of that room.
