This help file details how to retrieve your corpse without assistance.
However, a solo corpse retrieval mission is not usually necessary. Ask on
the newbie channel for a CR, that's what Helpers are there for!
1. Stand up. Start countdown: You have 3 real life hours to retrieve your
corpse. Type 'quit' if you don't have the time to continue playing right
now; the corpse timer stops while logged off.
2. Type 'down' to get back to recall.
3. Type 'owned' to remember where you died
4. Gather supplies:
* flickering torch - for sight in darkness (runto groceries)
* sight beyond sight - to detect invis items in your corpse (runto
potions)
* shadowbane - to detect hidden mobs (runto potions)
* griffin's blood - in case of quicksand or deep water in middle
of speedwalk (runto potions)
* light relief/serious relief/critical care/triple mending (runto
potions). These are healing potions, use the one appropriate for
your level. Create an alias so that you can take the potion while
fighting. Example: type 'alias rr quaff rush' to make typing 'rr'
now the same as typing 'quaff rush')
5. If you are level 5+ 'runto canyon' - in the west corner closest to the
entrance there is a pharmacy. Buy the clear elixir, it will make you
'invis' to get past mobs that can't detect invis characters and it will
make you 'detect invis' to get invis items out of your corpse.
6. Type 'report' to make sure you are fully healed, then runto the area
you died in. Your corpse will be in the same room that the mob killed you
in. Fun Tip: If you are using MUSHclient the mapper will remember room
names, so you can type 'mapper find <room name>', then you can click on
the result to make your character runto it.
7. Assuming you've managed to survive getting to your corpse, when you are
standing in the room with it, realize that it is just a fancy container
for your items. It will dissolve when all the items are out of it. Type
'get all corpse'. Type 'wear all' to quickly wear items in your inventory
after retrieving them. If your corpse does not disintegrate, type 'get all
corpse' again, then 'wear all' once more. If you still can't pick up
everything you'll need to start throwing junk on the ground. Look for
heavy items to drop, remember to type 'keep <object>' for items that are
important.
8. If the room has aggressive mobs in it and you're in a hurry, you can
also just try to type 'get corpse' to pick up the corpse container along
with everything inside of it, then you can flee the room and sort the
items out in a safe room.
9. If the room is too dangerous to return to, remember your character
comes with 3 freebie resurrections in the form of the 'pray for corpse'
command that can be used at the room 'Upon the Pulpit', 4 north of recall.
Once you pray for your corpse it will appear in the room below (The
Aylorian Morgue).
After using up your free lives, you can spend a trivia point to get
your corpse: Type 'runto ravi', then once at Ravi Enterprises, you can
type 'tpspend corpse'.
