Avengers are the fist of god and do not take kindly to being attacked;
neither do their gods.
The Holy Reprisal skill is a passive ability that will cause Avengers to
receive a bonus damage against most* characters that attack them. This
includes both aggressive mobs and players. When attacked by a player,
Holy Reprisal does stack with Righteous Anger.
Holy Reprisal will also be activated when a member of the Avenger's group
present in the room is attacked. The reprisal is less severe when defending
a third party but still enough to punish a target for attacking your group.
Each time you inflict damage on a target that attacked you, whether or
not Holy Reprisal triggers is based on your percent practiced in the skill.
When it does trigger, the amount of bonus damage is based on your
intelligence and constitution. The Holy Reprisal skill does also have
instinct training available which can further increase the damage bonus.
Damage output does not explicitly show the increase from Holy Reprisal but
the damage message does include an '*' at the end when reprisal was
activated for that hit. If you have combined messages on then the '*' means
at least one of the hits was increased by reprisal. For "damage output by
damage type" (damage 6), then the '*' means at least one of the hits of
that damage type was boosted.
* There are some exceptions to Holy Reprisal being triggered:
- When the attacker has revenge on the target.
- When the target is attacked via Guardian Safeguard.
- Some mobs use various progs to stop combat, go to a room, do
something then start combat again. You won't be aware of this
happening but it may cause Holy Reprisal to stop working.
Technically a bug but unlikely to change.
