Enchantments are a group of spells used to enhance equipment. The short
list of spells is Enchant Weapon, Enchant Armor, Solidify, Illuminate and
Resonate.
Most of these spells will add a random amount of stats with the potential
for added bonuses based on the stats of the enchanter. Landing strong
combinations in all enchant spells is quite rare and some players have
built their entire character around being able to enchant.
Even if you do not have access to a top level enchanter, having your regular
equipment enchanted by someone with these spells available still has the
potential to greatly improve your overall stats.
