The following issues regarding tiers can be considered 'dead' and not worth arguing for/against.

  Resistances based solely upon tier will never be added.

  The power balance between tiers is already greater than desired.  Unless
  there is an obvious and overwhelming reason, additional per-tier bonuses
  will not be added.

  There will be no tier-based reductions to recovery timers.

On the "power gap":

The "power gap" is the difference in power between a T1 and a T9 and the amount of time it takes to get from one to the other. Some people believe this time is too long, others believe it is too short.

Aardwolf has been online for over 20 years and hopefully will be around for another 20. It is not realistic to login and level for a few months then easily compete with other players who have been here for years. It can be done, but not easily. It is also not necessary - there are plenty of people to compete with closer to your own range and plenty of things to do in Aardwolf without needing to start attacking the top of rank 1 within weeks of creating a character.

The alternative is a MUD on which everyone is max within a short time and moves on. It is a paradox for all MUDs - everyone wants to grow their character, but the easier it is to "max" the less perceived value it has. A game is rarely fun once you've truly maxxed, no matter how many high end activities there are (and we can ALWAYS use more), you reach a point where you've either done them all, or consider them undoable.

As we plan to be around long term, reaching max T9 on Aardwolf is a long term goal. We will continue to add more areas to explore, goals to complete and subgames to take part in on the way up, but there is no plan to shorten the journey itself.
