Global Quests
Help Global Quests
Global quests are in some ways similar to standard quests, but anyonewithin a given level range can take part and the first to complete the
quest gets all the rewards.
A global quest can be for up to 15 different mobs and 10 different objects,
and, each mob/object can have a quantity associated with it. This allows
for a wide variety of quests; for example, you could have a quick "first to
find 5 of this imm token", or "first to kill all the named Dark 8 mobs".
You can also have longer lasting quests, such as "first to find 10 tokens
hidden around the mud", or, "first to kill all of the dark 8 25 times! :)".
Rewards can be any combination of gold, trivia points, quest points,
practice session and training sessions. There is also an 'other reward'
category, in which an imm can place text giving details of any special
reward. The imm creating the quest also has the option to add a 'clue' that
will be placed into the text header.
Note that clan sponsored global quests are no longer available.
While you are taking part in a global quest, certain skills and spells will
not work, or may not work as you are used to.
Your main interface with the global quest system is via the 'gquest'
command; see 'help gquest' for more information on how to use this command.
The command to talk on the global quest channel is 'global'. This channel
is not available when a gquest is not running. When a quest is active,
only people in the quest can talk on this channel.
Unless you are completely not interested in global quests, it is suggested
that this channel be kept on. The 'global' channel announces all upcoming
gquests, and you will not see any other information on the channel unless
you are participating in the current gquest.
A set of rules explaining what actions are and are not allowed regarding
Global Quests can be reviewed in 'help gqrules'.
Help Gquest
Sytnax: gquest <join|quit|info|check|complete|progress|history|ranges>'Gquest' is the main command used by players to join and take part in
global mud-wide quests (gquests), explained in 'help global quests'.
The following commands are available at any time:
Gquest info : See rewards available, duration, time to start and
other general details on the current or most recently
won global quest. If done after a gquest is completed,
will also show a list of the mobs/objects required for
that gquest, and the winner.
Gquest history : Shows a list of all gquest results since reboot- the
time completed, level ranges, winning player, and amount
of time taken.
Gquest ranges : Displays the list of global quest level ranges and whether
each has already run in the current cycle.
Global quests are announced to all players within the gquest's level range
that have the 'global' channel turned on. Once announced, there is a short
delay before the gquest actually starts. During this time, you may type
'gquest join' in order to actually join the gquest. You must be online
when the gquest is first announced in order to participate, and must join
in order to receive any rewards or credit towards the gquest.
Once underway, the following options are available:
Gquest info : Shows information listed in 'gquest info' above. If you
are within the gquest level range, also shows the mobs
and objects required to complete the gquest.
Gquest check : If participating, this shows you what mobs/objects are
still needed to complete the gquest.
Gquest complete : Completes the gquest and collects the reward when all
mobiles/objects are collected. Automated mob-only
gquests will complete automatically if you kill the last
mobile before any other participants.
Gquest progress : Shows the current gquest participants, their levels, and
number of mobiles and objects remaining. This is visible
to anyone.
Gquest quit : Silences the 'global' channel until the end of the gquest
and withdraws you from the current gquest. NOTE: Using
this command will forfeit any rewards you may have earned
on the global quest so far.
Note- donated and auctioned objects do not count towards global quest
requirements, and will not be included when you view 'gq progress'. Also
keep in mind that some skills/spells will not work as expected while you
are participating in a global quest.
