The Rules of the Game

These are the rules of Aardwolf. They are here to ensure that when people reach the coveted ranks of the Superheroes, Remorts, and even Tiers, they have done so without cheating and the game is fair for everyone. By playing Aardwolf, you are implying agreement to follow these rules even if you may not agree with what the rules say. Continuously ignoring and/or breaking these rules is taken as indication that you no longer wish to continue playing Aardwolf and we shall act accordingly.

This help file lists only the basic backbone of the rules. We expect players to follow the spirit of the rules, not just the letter of the law; if you think you have found a way around the letter, you can be fairly sure you are violating the spirit and will be treated no less harshly. Still, we have details available of what exactly the rules mean, so further information can be found in the "Policies" help files listed below. Do not think, however, that following even the most precise wording is any excuse for ignoring the spirit of the rules.

Remember, if you're not sure whether something is illegal, assume that it is unless an imm tells you otherwise- but feel free to ask!

1) Cursing. Keep foul/abusive language out of public forums. For this reason, the 'curse' channel has been added. If you are under 18 or offended by bad language, leave this channel off.

2) Multiplaying. Your characters cannot be online at the same time or aid each other in any way. The same character cannot be shared by more than one player.

3) Harassment. Try to keep personal attacks and arguments out of public forums. We will become involved if such things get out of hand. We may also get involved in private instances of harassment.

4) Kill stealing. No kill stealing or interfering in others' fights.

5) Bugs. If you find a bug, or think you might have found a bug, report it. The same goes for people breaking the mud's rules.

6) Leveling and quests. No power leveling or helping others quest. Following somebody around and aiding them without grouping is illegal.

7) Triggers and bots. No bot playing. The only trigger/client script you may have while not at your keyboard is one to simply keep you online.

8) Spam. Do not spam commands, spam on channels, or spam in any other way.

9) Do not help others evade the rules or imm-imposed punishments.

10) Advertising. Do not advertise other muds on aardwolf. There are many places to advertise your mud, such as www.mudconnect.com and the Usenet groups rec.games.mud.*; other muds are NOT an appropriate place to do so. Aardwolf respects this ethos and expects the same from others.

11) Reimbursement. Aardwolf has become a very large mud and it is impossible to keep track of everyone's equipment and reimburse it when lost. Because of this, only Aardwolf items and special trivia items can be reimbursed, and even then, only in special circumstances.

12) Miscellaneous. General trouble making.

Remember, who you are and what you are when you turn off the computer is of absolutely no consequence here. On Aardwolf you are determined solely by your words and actions in this realm. So please...Think before you type.
