1. This game is essentially 5 card stud (poker) with a couple of minor twists. It is not, nor intended to be, an exact copy of poker, there are some changes in the rules.

2. Cards will be spread across the mud randomly and will also be handed out at other times (asking us for one won't work :)

3. There are 4 regular suits of cards (Fire, Earth, Water and Air) and one special suit (Spirit).

4. Within each regular suit there are 12 Ranks, one card per Rank. Ranks are similar to the card values in a normal deck of cards.

i.e A rank 1 would probably be an Ace in a normal deck of cards and rank 12 would be similar to a king.

5. Within the spirit suit of cards there are 12 Ranks and 3 Wildcards.

6. The object of the game is to assemble 5 cards that will give you a winning hand (hands are listed below).

7. The four regular suits of cards act as normal suits in poker. I.e., you can collect four Rank 4 cards for a 4 of a kind, or put together a straight (5 cards in a row, e.g. Rank 1, Rank 2, Rank 3 and Rank 4 of any suit, though this is not the only possible combination), put together a flush, etc.

9. It is only possible to have a royal flush with the Spirit Cards. A royal flush is 5 spirit cards in numerical order (i.e. Rank 2 - 6).

10. The three Wildcards in the Spirit Suit can be used in any position. There are three wildcards in the spirit suit. These spirit wildcards can be used in any position to represent any rank or any suit.

11. The possible hands are:

-->4 of a kind (4 same rank cards from any suit)
-->5 of a kind (5 same rank cards from any suit)
-->Straight (5 cards in numerical order, suit not relevant)
-->Flush (5 cards in numerical order, same suit)
-->Royal Flush (5 cards of the Spirit Suit, numerical order)

12. Scoring is as follows:

-->Straight (1 points)
-->4 of a kind (2 points)
-->Flush (3 points)
-->5 of a kind (4 points)
-->Royal Flush (5 points)

In the case of tied hands (i.e. two 5 of a kinds, or 2 straights, etc.), the hand with the higher count of rank points will win.

13. You may collect the cards and keep them until the game is announced. Once a month, a card game will be announced and you can turn your cards in to Xantcha, Filt or Plaideleon for scoring. *NOTE* You cannot win twice in a row. If you win one month, you cannot win until someone else has won.

14. You cannot turn in your cards unless you have one of the hands listed above. Five cards must be turned in with each hand, and players can only turn in one hand of cards per game.

15. The winner of the game will receive 10qp per Rank point in his or her hand. Also, any spirit suit card is automatically worth 20qp and any spirit Wildcard is worth 50qp, in addition to the points earned by the hand.

16. All other contestants will receive 10qp per regular card in their hand, 15qp for spirit suit cards, and 25qp for any spirit wildcards.

17. Cards will be retained by Filt after they are turned in, regardless of whether you won or not.
