Special Events

The Immortals of Aardwolf often put on special events/games/or quests for the players to participate in.

This can range from trivia games to special global quests to scavenger hunts to Pk tournaments.

In order to see if any events are currently underway be sure to read the announce board when you connect to the game.

Here is an example of one such event: Aardscrabble

Aardscrabble is a special ongoing contest. Players can form words using game pieces they find on mobs. These words may be turned into Dirtworm or Euphonix for QP. The other immortal staff are NOT to be bothered about words.

The basic format will be as follows:

Playing pieces will distributed through randomly giving them to mobs, awarding them as prizes, and other methods.
There will be several sets of playing pieces distributed. There will be two types of pieces in each set.

Letters and multipliers:

Multiplers - Restrictions (number in set)
Double Letter Score - Position 1, 3, 5, or 7 in word (3)
Double Letter Score - Position 2, 4, or 6 in word (3)
Double Letter Score - Position any in word (3)
Triple Letter Score - Position 4 in word (3)
Triple Letter Score - Position 1, 2, or 6, or 7 (3)
Double Word Score - Position 1, 4, or 7 in word (3)
Double Word Score - Position 2, 4, or 6 in word (3)
Triple Word Score - Position 1, or 7 in word (2)
Triple Word Score - Position 4 in word (2)
125 pieces total in each set.

Scoring

Words with length 2 to 8 will be scored according to the point value of the pieces.
A maximum of 2 multipliers may be used in any word.
Only one multiplier may be used in a position in any word.
Building a 7 letter word will get a 50 point bonus after the word is scored.
Players will get 1 qp for each point in a word they submit.
A word will be considered legit if it can be found in the Official Scrabble Player.s Dictionary - Second Ed. Redwood Ed or if the word is permitted as part of a special contest.
The BLANK tiles can be used to replace any letter in a word but have a value of zero.

Periodically contests will be held with prizes for the best word in a category.

All players are expected as a matter of course to respect the MP rules of this MUD at all times including this contest.
