Perhaps it is because I am growing older.
Most certainly it is because I have grandchildren.

My daughter has moved with her children away from the city, and yet there is still violence and harassment at my nephew's junior high school (and worse things happening at the smallish-town high school that he will attend in two more years).

There's a little three-year-old granddaughter, with big blue eyes and long brown hair in braids like Grandma's.

If I had the ability to cast "sanctuary" in real life, I would move to their small town, stand outside the schoolhouse door every day, and protect the children and their teachers.

As it is now, I can only protect them with my prayers.
