Location: Home / / Starphoenix - The Chamber Someone once mentioned in passing that being a superhero was nice and all, but true adventurers went to a secret conclave known as a "remort chamber". After years of hard travel, I found and entered this somewhat mythical location. The things in here were both an amazing discovery and a great disappointment. The chamber itself is decorated in many murals and ancient script, but is strangely devoid of all feeling. The light comes from no where yet everywhere, much like a dream-state. Voices whisper and beckon at you to step forward. I belive these to be the voices of those long passed through this chamber. Stepping all the way in gives you a feeling of utter weightlessness and the most sour feeling in the pit of your stomach that you could ever hope to avoid (I tried to vomit it up but there was nothing there even though I ate several fido burgers). The strongest voice said all I had to do was beseech the heavens for the gift of remort, but I would pay a price. There's always a price involved with matters of the supernatural, unfortunately. I could gain new knowledge and take a step closer to being a mortal version of a greater being, but I would have to begin life anew and take the journey that took me years to complete the first time. I could only think of curses for those who told me to visit here. Why would I do this? But before I could wonder, I felt the urge to do it. I cried out to the chamber for the power of remort. I'm not really sure how to describe what happened next. The room filled with a sort of reverse view of the world from far above the skies, and I saw a glimmer of some otherworld spirit. A calming breeze surrounded me, and a feeling of acid burning my bones from inside filled me. My vision blurred through all the moments of my life and my knowledge was stolen from me of the master ranger. I stood upon a mirror and gazed down to see myself falling away, and I felt myself fall. Colors and voices streamed past me faster than I could hope to keep up with. The ages of the world came and went through my mind and the laughing of children filled my ears as I landed softly on nothingness. My eyes cleared and my mind returned to me, and the last voice I heard was a man whisper, "Take the journey to the end, the go back again, and once more a time until you find me, take the roads you have seen and see them anew, and it will bring me back to you." It was my voice, and the sounds and smells of Midgaard became clear as I awoke standing at the halls of the Adventurer's Guild, for the first time again. | |||
