Aardwolf News 30 May 2007

WARNING: A lot of new code in this reboot, it's been on the test port for a couple of weeks without issue, but crash risk is higher than usual. Be careful with your equipment etc.

  • Aardwolf now has the ability to have temporary room affects. With this ability there is a new bandit skill called 'entrap' that will temporarily set a PK flag on a room. It cannot be used in rooms flagged law/safe/ clanroom or in a room with another player already in it. It also cannot be used in any room considered a 'city'. We also have a separate room flag to specifically block this where necessary.
  • Empaths have a new spell called Combat Empathy:

    Syntax: cast 'combat empathy'

Using this spell, an Empath will be able to feel the
emotions involved in a fight with an opponent, bringing
a better understanding of the situation. The end result
is that an Empath using this ability will receive more
experience from the fight compared to that of non-Empaths.

This skill stacks with the exprate wish, though each bonus
is calculated separately off the base amount. The exprate
command may be used to combine or separate these bonuses.

Primary Stat: Int (bonus, duration, recovery), Wis (duration).

    Affected by : Luck (bonus).

Recovery time and the benefit of the spell itself will both
increase as your int does. The 'exprate' command will turn
off the extra display, same as with the wish.

  • Can now use the 'exprate' command without having the wish.
  • Mindflayer has a new spell, or a very old spell returned - slow. It does not work like the stock 'slow' which cancels haste, this version of slow instead causes lightspeed and haste on the target to be completely ignored.
  • The mud now has the ability to create rare items without mobprog hacks. Every object reset has a number that is divided by 5,000 for chance to load. So, for 50% chance to load set it to 2500, for 1 in 5000 chance to load, set it to 1, etc. Leave resets to zero for standard repops. This info is mostly for builders once it gets onto builders port. We haven't decided what to do with reboot only quests yet, but expect some changes.

    And in other minor fixes...

  • Fixed an issue with max stats on skin - the bonus for skin was never changed from 500 to 600 and you needed _exactly_ 500 wis/con to get it. Now moved to 600, and the bonus for having 600 con has been increased slightly.
  • Changed the checks on retreat. It was based completely on the users stats before and did not take into account the stats of the opponent. Dex is still the most important stat, with luck playing a part.
  • Turned the damage on immolate and miasma back up a little.
  • Using emotes and socials on channels will now follow the same format for turning them on/off as regular channel usage.
  • Cleave can now be used vs players, just does not have the chance to destroy their shield.
  • Chance to "save" a spell (or land a spell) was supposed to always have a very small chance to succeed regardless of anything else. Noticed that this wasn't working while checking an issue with web for Alhena, now fixed. This might make some bad spells too easy to land on others, if so will adjust as necessary.
  • Reduced the lag on calm to half what it was.
  • The max hits possible on a backstab has been reduced from 6 to 5. If you think only being able to backstab levelling mobs to 50% is 'nerfed' then enjoy the nerf.
  • Damage on spiral has been increased some.
